ISC-Damascus and ISC-Homs Students Contribute to a Local Hospital
ISC-Damascus and ISC-Homs students in Syria are continuously working to improve their communities by volunteering to benefit various causes. In this respect, the students recently spearheaded one of their largest joint community projects of the year, the Hope Cancer Campaign, and achieved impressive results.
With the aim of increasing cancer awareness and raising funds, ISC-Damascus and ISC-Homs students sold 571 Hope Cancer Campaign t-shirts to parents, community members, and other students. T-shirt sales raised more than $2,800, allowing the schools to donate seven medical beds, specialized for cancer patients, and other essential medical equipment to a local hospital. “Through months of working together, the students learned that collectively they can make a major difference,” stated ISC-Homs Student Life Coordinator, Ms. Cindy Faisal.

The students had the opportunity to deliver the medical equipment in-person to the Al Birouni University Hospital, which is supported by Basma Children with Cancer Support Association. “When the students went to the hospital to donate the medical equipment, they were able to see the significant impact that their hard work will have on the lives of less fortunate children in their community,” commented ISC-Damascus Student Life Coordinator, Mr. Abdullah Idilbi. “This project also taught students to be responsible citizens in their communities.”
Through SLO™, which oversees community service projects, ISC-Damascus and ISC-Homs students are provided the resources and outlet to take part in academic and extracurricular activities that help shape them into strong leaders who have an understanding of social responsibility. ISC-Damascus and ISC-Homs are developing responsible world-class citizens who have a well-balanced foundation of knowledge and experiences and a remarkable sense of compassion and consideration for others.
ISC-Damascus and ISC-Homs were founded in 2001 and 2005, respectively, and currently enroll more than 2,000 students collectively. Both schools implement the efficient and high-quality SABIS® Educational System, which provides students with a solid academic foundation and prepares them to successfully face the challenges in college and beyond.
