Testimonials

I want to express my appreciation for all ISC-Cairo has done. For the first time, I feel that my child really likes going to school. He wakes up early and now fulfills his promise to his teacher by attending the morning assembly line and completing all assigned homework. I am really happy and I cannot believe that with a bit of encouragement he would change. Thank you all for your cooperation and for taking the time to listen and find a solution. Thank you so much and I wish you all the best.

I don’t have to look far to know how successful the SABIS® system is. My daughter, Sevan, graduated from ISC-Dubai in 2006 and she enrolled in McGill University at the age of 17, as a second-year student given her AP credits. She graduated in 2009, with first-class honors, from the computer science program, with a minor in philosophy - just two months short of her twentieth birthday. Currently, she is working on her master’s thesis after finishing all required coursework. All this and she is not yet 21! She was brought up in the Choueifat system which taught the students to not only excel but to be leaders.

I believe there are few places like the International School of Choueifat-Erbil in Kurdistan. I have enjoyed the international environment and the opportunity to work hard and immediately see the results. We are doing very important development work in this school, and it has been very satisfying for me personally to be part of the Iraqi nation-building on a different level.

ISC-Erbil Students Make a Difference with Classmates and Community

Students of the International School of Choueifat-Erbil have been strengthening their leadership and presentation skills as Shadow Teachers™ and peer tutors since the school opened in 2006. Each year, more and more students in the school, which now offers classes from KG to Grade 9, are distinguishing themselves as promising leaders and earning the respect of their teachers and peers.

Muhammed Nahro is currently a 9th grade student at ISC-Erbil who has been making a difference in the school through his contribution as a peer tutor. Exemplifying significant responsibility toward his fellow classmates, Nahro volunteers twice every week after school to help eight other students from his grade learn geometry concepts. With great enthusiasm and self-confidence, he strives to bring his peers’ understanding of these concepts on a par with their grade level.

On Saturday, January 30, 2010, Nahro’s classmates surprised him by organizing a luncheon for him as a token of appreciation for his dedication and help.

Shadow Teaching™ and peer tutoring are important components in SABIS® schools. Both contribute to the enhancement of the learning process by promoting team spirit and developing students’ leadership skills.  In fact, over the past months, Shadow Teachers™ from the International School of Choueifat-Erbil have been extending their support to the students of the public-private partnership school, the Fakhir Mergasori International School (FMIS). FMIS students that are performing below grade level and require additional academic support are paired with ISC-Erbil Shadow Teachers™, who share their knowledge and skills to help the FMIS students catch up.

For more information about ISC-Erbil or FMIS, visit www.iscerbil-sabis.net and www.pppkurdistan-sabis.net/fakhir-mergasori, respectively.
